Description

This course introduces you to Confined Spaces and Permit-Required Confined Spaces (PRCS), helping you recognize these spaces in your workplace and understand what makes them so dangerous. You'll learn about atmospheric, engulfment, and configuration hazards, and the controls used to address each before entry or work begins. You'll also learn how to recognize warning signs of unsafe conditions, when to stop work, and your role and responsibilities as an awareness-level worker.

Drawn from OSHA Standard: 1910.146, 1926.1202 - 1926.1213, and industry best practices.

An interactive simulation is included.  Permit-required confined spaces present serious risks that demand careful preparation and strict procedures before anyone enters. In this simulation, you'll step into the role of an observer-in-training, watching the Entrant and Attendant carry out their roles to ensure every step is followed before, during, and after entry. You can access the simulation using a screen reader, computer, mobile device, or a Quest VR headset.
